Your Work, Your Rights
Cryptographic proof of authorship with timestamps that hold up under Australian copyright law.
Protect Your WorkAustralian Copyright Law
Under Australian copyright law, you automatically own the copyright to your original creative work as soon as it's created. Clavet helps you prove when you created it.
The Copyright Act 1968 (Cth) protects literary works, including song lyrics, as soon as they're written down. Clavet's timestamped records provide evidence of when your work was created, which can be crucial in disputes.
While copyright exists automatically, having clear proof of authorship and creation date strengthens your position if you ever need to assert your rights.
Key Points
- •Copyright exists automatically upon creation
- •No registration required in Australia
- •Protection lasts for your lifetime + 70 years
- •Proof of authorship strengthens your position
Cryptographic Proof
When you create content in Clavet, we generate a cryptographic hash—a unique fingerprint—of your work. This hash is combined with a timestamp and your account information to create an unalterable record.
The hash proves that your work existed at a specific point in time. If someone later claims they wrote it first, you can prove otherwise by showing your timestamped hash.
This system uses industry-standard cryptographic techniques that are accepted as evidence in legal proceedings.
Timestamps
Every version of your song gets a timestamp when it's saved. These timestamps use coordinated universal time (UTC) and are synchronised with trusted time sources.
Timestamps show not just when you created the work, but how it evolved over time. This version history can be crucial in proving the originality and development of your creative process.
All timestamps are stored securely and can be exported along with your work for legal or publishing purposes.

Export Your Proof
When you export your work, you can include the cryptographic proof and timestamps. This creates a complete package that demonstrates your authorship and creation date.
Whether you're submitting to publishers, registering with a collection society, or just keeping records, having this proof gives you confidence in your rights.
